Yellow Paper Bird Cutting

I thought it might be cool beans to make a video creating some artwork. This video is short but it actually took me over three hours to complete it. I can see so many things that I need to work on for a better video but for my first I am happy. FIST PUMPS!

I think I am going to go eat a cheese stick now...

Berry Tree

This bird has a partner I just didn't put it in this picture. I am making some really cool prints with mulberry paper so I'm scanning these before I put them on their permanent backgrounds. The prints I have done with the mulberry paper are really great because you can see all the fibers, pedals, leaves and such. When they were printed I had one of those "giddy squeal" moments because I loved they way they looked. Aren't those moments the best? However, I did realize I couldn't have backgrounds because it just wasn't the look I was going for.

I did this using only paper and matte medium as my glue. All the papers had already been distressed so all I did was cut away.

My work in progress pictures always stink because it's usually an after thought. Plus, I used my iPhone to take this picture. That's something I will work on.

I Love Books

Yep, I'm a big fan of books. I have a friend that has been trying to sell me on getting a Kindle. I can't explain it but I like the feel of the actual book in my hands. Turning the pages, dog-earring them and using a fun book marker. Oh, and when you're all done putting it neatly in the bookcase as your little accomplishment. My friends have asked me about some of my books and it's fun to loan them out and discuss them.

Have you ever read a book that changed how you look at life? How you acted? Treated your family? I have...and I'm so thankful for the ability to read, learn and change.

In Style Progress

I am coming along on this piece. Ive made a lot of progress on her dress but I still have work to do on the back (I plan to make it a lace up). When I ran across this purple patterned paper from K & Company I knew it was perfect for the dress.

I plan to take better pictures (I took this with the camera on my phone). I plan to change the beak color to red I wasn't focused and made it a creamy brown color...duh.

Yay! It's Friday

Life Is What You Create
10X10
paper and paint

This is a little 8X8 piece I've been working on. I am amazed at the amount of paint I can splatter all over my desk and clothing. I put on my smock but I still manage to get glue all over my pants. My Dad always told me I was a messy painter and he was right on!

This piece is special because I am going through some tough times right now.  I kinda feel like my brain is all scrambled up and this prayer helps me stay focused.

New Work

Garden Hands- Mixed media 30X10
paper, paint, dye ink
handmade wood frame

Telephone- Mixed Media 24X24
paper, paint, dye ink
handmade wood frame

Here is some new work I did for the First Saturday Artist Market on Oct. 3rd. They are large but I enjoy doing the larger sizes so it's all fun. I have several more but they are still wet with varnish so can't take pictures of them just yet. Sometimes I get so anxious to get them done I want to go, go, go but it doesn't work that way. It's always seems like glue is drying, paint is drying or varnish is drying...and unfortunately I don't like to wait. So I usually have several pieces going at one time to keep my sanity. I will show you more work when it's safe to handle.

Happy Tuesday!
