After my studio switch I decided to do some painting...lots and lots of painting. I painted the walls this great light blue color (pictures don't show how pretty it is). Then I ran across The Selvedge Yard's blog and just knew I wanted to create something like what was created in a dressing room at a Lilly Pulitzer's store in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
see more about the designers behind the dressing rooms at The Selvedge Yard's blog.
I started with my pretty blue...
then decided to mark off the squares so I was not all over the wall...
I used a marker to write the names of the paint on the squares because it was much easier than using a paint brush. Plus the walls are all bumpy so I knew it would be smarter to use a marker...trust me on this!
I decided not to be a perfectionist and did the squares freehand and kinda loosey goosey. Especially handy while working with an eight year old!!
Lastly I decided to add some black outlines in the squares. No rhyme or reason to the lines which made messing up impossible.
Now I have twelve happy squares on my wall with great names like Razzleberry, banana yellow, mango, blueberry blue, valentine pink, sunflower yellow...gotta love that!

I love it! Those black outlines really finished it off. I'm wondering if I can pull off something like this. I have been a collector of paint chips for years and years.

What a great idea! I love your wall--it makes me smile. I would love to feature this on my blog if it would be OK with you--I can see this being a fun solution for clients who struggle with paint color selection...no need to choose just one color!
