I've been lazy this week and decided to combine my Flickr Studio Shot Tuesday's and Sanctuary Arts makeover in one post (both are late I might add!). Anyhoo, Sanctuary Arts has the At Home party once a month on the 25th and I decided to join the fun. It's a time to show fabulous trash to treasures, furniture make-overs or those spray painted items. Here is mine....
I took one really nasty old piece of wood from my garage (previous homeowners left it, thank you very much!).
I cut it to size...
sanded it like crazy!! By the way, do you see that brush sitting on the wood? That was my Dad's brush he made in wood shop in middle school. Gotta love that!
I didn't take a picture of this but I painted it with my friend's leftover paint and screwed these great iron brackets on it. I got them at a hobby store for $3.00 each...Yay for a sale!
Then up it went above my window in my studio. Ta-da! So now for my Flickr Studio Shot Tuesday talk. One of my favorite things in my studio is this vintage map! It took me forever to find it but when I did I snatched it up. I knew I wanted to use one as a window cover but finding one I liked proved to be kinda hard. I like the way it turned out...anything my big honkin' globe can set on is fine by me.

I love those brackets. That's alot of impact for little money. I love what you did with those maps too. How did you apply those maps to the shades? Sooo crafty.
Love that shelf! It's very cool! Thanks for joining in on the party! jen
Great job with the shelf, that's my kind of project! Thanks for linking to my party.
I love the map window covering too, very clever.
It looks great...I need some of those brackets, too bad we have no hobby lobby here.
I wish I was that crafty...it's just one large school map. I didn't have to do anything to it except hang it.
Ah! I've been waiting to see a picture of your idea come to life! Excellent!
Great redo. Love the maps!
Have a happy day
