Jims Pancakes

Do you like pancakes? If so... your going to love Jim's Pancakes. He is a fun Dad that just loves to make them for his daughter Allie and son Ryan.

Be sure and check out his website here.

Razzle Dazzle Rose

So I'm really into listening to Camera Obscura right now...it's slightly driving me nuts but it's all good. The group has a song called Razzle Dazzle Rose it's short and sweet...

 Rose, I'm feeling older
I was as lucky as a four-leaved clover
I tried to be happy, it wasn't easy
When I choose my color, it will be
Razzle dazzle rose

Rose, I'm feeling older
Courage, my love, it makes me bolder
Expecting softness can lead to foolishness
When I choose my color, it will be
Razzle dazzle rose

This is an actual Crayola color introduced in 1990. I bet you didn't realize that you can look up crayon names at Crayola and find out more information about them. Isn't it great to have someone keeping you informed on the complete waste of time goodies out there? You can thank me later...(big smile)

If you could choose your color what would it be?

New Switzerland Postcard

I got all excited today because I got a new postcard from Postcrossing. This one is from Switzerland, Zurich to be exact.

This postcard took 10 days and 5,334 miles to get to me...love that a little piece of paper can travel so far. Manuel is running the website petiteposte.com with unique art postcards from great artists so be sure and check it out. The artwork done on the one I received is by Daniel Podva.

China's Piano

Isn't this piano-shaped building in Huainan, Anhui providence, China totally amazing?

back

The building will serve as the local Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. It's simply a spectacular example of unusual architecture. Are you wondering how to get in? You will need to go through the giant glass violin on the other side...totally wonderful!!

Vintage Postage Stamps

I love vintage postage stamps. They are just cool to me and I enjoy using them in my artwork. It took awhile but I went through my huge bucket of postage stamps and pulled out all the airmail stamps in red and green. I wanted another color so I went and found all of my orange six cent stamps. All the cancellation marks and date stamps are original on the stamps themselves. Because of this I decided not to paint or change the stamps in any way and just use them as my background. I'm glad I did because I think they are unique on their own.

Here is what I came up with...

 mixed media, paper, acrylic

It kinda makes my head spin when I look at all these individual stamps. Do you think some of them were used for love letters? A note to Mom or Dad? Maybe secret documents? I'm sure each could tell a great story...I hope I did them justice.

Toasty Toast

Want to try a yummy good snack?

Here is what you will need:
butter
extra virgin olive oil
bread (hearty)
kosher salt

You're going to want to heat your pan on medium. Melt your butter and olive oil in a bowl (the amount of butter and oil will depend on the amount of bread your making). For the bread I use really good fresh Pagnotta bread however, the bread you choose to use has to be really hearty. Use your butter/oil mixture and brush it on both sides of your bread. Then simply place it in the pan and flip when golden brown.

When the butter/oil is sizzling on the bread dash on your kosher salt. The bread gets really toasty crunchy...trust me this is SO yummy!!

Jason likes to add an herb dip with rosemary.

Straws

Who says straws are just for drinking?

T Donovan, a sculptor and installation artist, is known for her work with everyday manufactured materials such as Styrofoam cups, Scotch tape, and drinking straws to create large scale sculptures. The piece below is stacked drinking straws.

what do you think of this lamp...pretty cool huh?

New Work Is Good

New work always makes me happy (even when I'm not crazy about it). I think it's that simple feeling of getting something done and posted. I did this using paper, dye ink, type and dry transfers. No X-acto knife use in this one just my medium scissors. I wish I could say I had a hand in that fantastic background paper but I bought it that way...darn.

I'm feeling kinda bummed out today...so send good vibes my direction, it would be greatly appreciated! (big smiley face)!!

Light House

Here is a little piece I did that I've just gotten around to posting. My husband and I watch Deadliest Catch on Discovery Channel so you can imagine why this was swimming around in my head. If you click on the picture you can get a better look at it.
